The Deep Winter Series by Thomas Sherry....Must Read

Deep Winter starts off with serious action....no lead up just immediate *WHAM*

These books gave me a totally different scenario to imagine than the survivalist fiction that I have read. The storyline is based on a catastrophic earthquake and everything else that follows.

Can you imagine being jolted from a dead sleep by a roaring earthquake to find that most of your neighborhood has been decimated? The weather is below freezing and you basically are lucky to get out of the house with the clothes on your back. You then find that most of the area and region of the country has also been devoured by the country's largest and most damaging quake in history. How do you deal with the fallout from the Nuclear Plant that was damaged? How do you deal with the roaming gangs while trying to secure your property and family? When there is no infrastructure and no one to depend on but a handful of friends and neighbors how do you look to the future?

As always I couldn't help but catch myself analyzing how I would do things and what decisions I would make. Because my family and I live along the New Madrid fault line, the story was particularly interesting to me, but regardless of where you call home you will have a hard time not getting drawn in to this series.

Both are available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

Stealing Second by Nicholas Antinozzi

I read this book in two days!

One of the hottest topics in the news today is Gun Control and Antinozzi really brings the argument home with Stealing Second.

With our Second Amendment rights teeter-tottering on the shoulders of Washington bureaucrats its not so far-fetched to imagine a day in the not-so-distant future where we loose our rights to keep and bear arms. What will that day look like? Will it happen all at once or will it happen gradually?

If you smoke or eat when you are on edge you might want to make sure you have your cheeseballs and sit near your smoke pot. I highly recommend this book to everyone....after all, this very well could be a reality very soon.

Cancer as a Blessing

Cancer as a Blessing

By: Squeekie Stoddard Waters

Have you ever thought of Stage IV Cancer as a blessing? Oddly enough after being on an emotional roller coaster ride and learning that I have Stage IV Breast Cancer, that is how I have begun to see this deadly, painful disease. I have witnessed so many acts of kindness, godliness, goodness, and yes, possibly even a miracle or two since I learned that I have this cancer that could possibly end my life within the year. In fact, I'm actually somewhat thankful to have it because I have seen God working in someone that I love very much in a way that only HE can! Whatever the reason is for me to have this cancer and all this pain, I know it's part of God's greater plan. Yes, things may seem horrible right now, but sometimes God uses drastic measures to get our attention and sometimes he uses others to get our attention and sometimes He uses a combination of both. Whatever His plan is, I know it is a perfect plan and I praise Him for it and give Him all the glory for all of it!

I was thinking the other day how it must have been in Jesus's day when He would go from place to place teaching. I was thinking about the people who did anything they could just to get to Him so they could be healed. I can really put myself in their sandals right now. What I'm about to admit is silly and stupid, but it kind of illustrates the point I'm trying to make here. Okay. I'm a big Duck Dynasty fan. I was trying to think of ways that I might could get the Robertson family to pray with me. Then I thought to myself, "Why the Robertsons?" One reason I thought was because of their faith, but then I (got my head out of the clouds) and realized that my faith and the faith of my church family and friends is as good as theirs. Besides, my friends and church family actually KNOW me. I realized then that it must be that "rock star effect". It hit me though. This is probably very much what the people back then must have felt like. Of course I was hoping for prayer with famous Christian people. The people back then were seeking Jesus Christ HIMSELF....the one who could actually perform the miracle for them! I'll blame my lapse of cognitive processing on the pain medicine but it was pretty cool to feel how the people back then may have felt. I would have been just like them seeking out Jesus to rid me of this disease. I guess Jesus was the "rock star" of His time.

I don't know what my future holds for me, but I don't have to know. God knows and that's all that matters. I have recently begun treatment and God is in complete control. I know He is because I have given it all over to Him. Oh sure. I may still have my days of doubt, but it will be doubt of myself or doubt of something "earthly" and not doubt in God. I'm sure I'll be on that roller coaster again, but deep in my heart, I will know He'll be right there with me.

So I choose to see my cancer as a blessing and not a death sentence. I pray for God to use me and use this disease for His glory however He sees fit. My body may be broken and weak, but my faith and my spirit is still very much in tact and has never been stronger. I thank Him for giving me such a strong support system with all of my church family, my friends (face to face and facebook), and my family (the ones that DO care). I thank Jesus for defeating death so that I can LIVE without fear of death.

Stage IV Cancer - a blessing?
Who knew?

NOTE: Squeekie is my friend from High School and College. Although, we have not always been close friends there is no way to know her and not consider her a good friend. She is one of the most positive and upbeat people that I know. She has a passion for issues close to her heart and has such a way with words. She has two grown boys and a young daughter. I haven't met her husband, but he has to be a pretty great guy to be with Squeekie. Please keep her in your prayers as she battles this monster that continues to ravage families on a daily basis. God Bless Squeeks and thank you so much for this message of strength.

We Interrupt this Chaotic World for a Laugh

Hilarious Laws
Things in our world seem so serious these days. I just needed some relief and could not pass up the opportunity to post some of these hilariously DUMB laws.

In Alabama it is illegal to wear a fake moustache in Church that causes laughter. You may also not flick boogers in the wind, not carry an ice cream cone in your back pocket. You CAN drive the wrong way on a one way street as long as you attach a lantern to the front of your automobile.

If you want to practice voodoo in Louisiana you must do it outside of city limits. While driving to the area outside city limits to cast your spells you can let your wife drive, but you must walk in front of her carrying a flag.

Please do not plan to hunt whales in Kansas as it is against the law.

It’s also illegal to hunt whales in Ohio, but only on Sundays. You also may not fish while intoxicated. Installation and use of slot machines in outhouses is also permitted….DARN!

It’s a No-No to push a moose from a moving airplane in Alaska.

Sleepy? Don’t get caught sleeping on a refrigerator in Pittsburgh, Pa. It is against the law. A special cleaning ordinance was also passed banning homemakers from sweeping any dirt under the rug in a dwelling. Wives must send a note with their husbands enabling them to purchase alcohol and beware…singing in a bathtub is illegal.

If you go to Texas and decide to have a beer make sure you are sitting. It is illegal to take more than 3 sips of beer while standing. It is also illegal to release any obnoxious odors in an elevator.

If you need a blue light bulb you will have to travel to another state other than Arkansas. You will also need to keep your alligator somewhere other than the bathtub since it is illegal to keep them there. Make sure your dogs are muzzled if you live in Little Rock because they are not allowed to bark after 6 p.m.

You may not be able to drink and fish in Ohio, but there is no law against it in Idaho….you just can’t fish from a camels back!!

In Massachusetts you may NOT give beer to hospital patients. You also may not allow a guerilla to ride in the back seat of any vehicle. Taxi drivers are not allowed to make love in the front seat of their taxis while during their shift….Aw…where’s the ACLU on that one??

Why worry about Terrorist? Ebola looks like it could do the job

Why worry about another terrorist attack when the inaction of the United States Administration, as well as the WHO and CDC, may very well allow the most horrific spread of Ebola in World History. I have not been keeping track how it is spreading in Africa on my blog, but I'm reading stories....many stories and they are past horrific. These are things that make gruesome horror movies at the theatre seem like a Disney matinee. Can you imagine bodies lying in the street, or going to a hospital only to find it closed because there were either no health care workers or they had become infected. Picture caring for your child that is so very ill you know she needs immediate care so you hire a taxi to help you get to the hospital to only be denied access because it is expected that she has Ebola and then she dies right there in front of the hospital and in front of you. This is happening and it's happening in exponential and alarming numbers that seem to be climbing daily.

We are continuing to get conflicting information from WHO and CDC, both of which the general public look to for knowledge to make decisions for the safety of their families. The sad thing is that unless someone is actually following the cases and the stories they would not even see how reality is actually contradicting these "experts" statements. In an effort to demonstrate these contradictions, I've listed their latest statements below.

Travel to and from the infected countries should have stopped long ago, but they consistently refuse to do so. By continuing, they are transporting this biological virus bomb all over the world. Possible infected people are sitting in airports in countries nowhere near the hot zone and possibly infecting many not even knowing they have contracted the disease. This is madness!

If you have been checking my blog you know that I have been tracking and posting any "suspected" cases outside of Africa and there is another post for "suspected" cases inside the U.S. I edit and update these threads daily. As you will see there are many negative results. I continue to track these because I fear that we will see that some of these were false negatives. They are being reported regularly in Africa so it's important NOT to write these off.

Again...I have pulled a few stories from today that I felt were relevant and to shine a little light on this morbid dark cloud that is moving a little faster across the globe.

Compare the latest WHO statement to the latest CDC statement
[link to www.who.int]
The Ebola virus is highly contagious, but is not airborne. Transmission requires close contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person, as can occur during health-care procedures, home care, or traditional burial practices

Compared to the latest CDC statement:
[link to www.cdc.gov]
Casual contact is defined as a) being within approximately 3 feet (1 meter) or within the room or care area for a prolonged period of time (e.g., healthcare personnel, household members) while not wearing recommended personal protective equipment (i.e., droplet and contact precautions–see Infection Prevention and Control Recommendations); or b) having direct brief contact (e.g., shaking hands) with an EVD case while not wearing recommended personal protective equipment (i.e., droplet and contact precautions–see Infection Prevention and Control Recommendations).

 AND STILL TRAVEL CONTINUES UNINTERRUPTED

NJ teen evacuated from Liberian school shut by Ebola crisis (SNIPS)
http://www.nj.com/morris/index.ssf/2014/08/wharton_teen_evacuated_from_liberian_girls_school_for_ebola_scare.html?
Jessica Schroeder, 18, was evacuated by the Bernardsville-based More Than Me organization founded by Katie Meyler to build and operate a girl's academy in Monrovia to use education to help young girls combat child prostitution, molestation and sex trafficking in the poor country.

When she arrived in Monrovia, there was already talk about sending volunteers home because of the Ebola epidemic, but she said panic didn't set in until July 25. She was back in New Jersey by the July 30.

"Every time I'd walk down the street I would see people wearing (surgical) gloves and masks," Schroeder said. "People were selling 'bola buckets' on the street with a water and chlorine solution which is supposed to kill the Ebola."

"Prior to my leaving for Monrovia, I was aware of the disease but not that it had reached Monrovia," Schroeder said. "I carried on as usual, hugging, shaking hands. And then someone told me I should really refrain. By the time the news had gotten around everybody had stopped touching."

When she first found out the summer program would be canceled she thought she would stay in Monrovia to do other work for the school.

"But then all the volunteers were evacuated," she said. "First they bought me a ticket for Friday, then canceled it and made it for Wednesday."

Schroeder said that the international airport was crowded and chaotic while so many people were trying to get out of the country at once for the Ebola exodus

SO WHAT AREAS ARE ALL OF THESE PEOPLE IN THESE CROWDED CHAOTIC AIRPORTS COMING FROM AND WHERE ARE THEY GOING?? ALL BY AIRPLANE

A top public health expert said U.S. officials are not prepared for a possible Ebola outbreak and do not even want to plan for contingencies.

Days after experts said an Ebola outbreak in the U.S. may be "inevitable," Dr. Jane Orient, the executive director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, said, "there are just many things about this virus that we do not know and yet we are assuming that it is not going to affect us here."

[snip]

Orient told host and Breitbart Chairman Stephen K. Bannon that there is currently "so much denial about" Ebola and, "we really do not know how serious it is." Orient said that there are, though, thousands of people from more than 100 different nations coming across the border "without any health screenings at all."

[snip]

For instance, she said that the Center for Disease Control says that Ebola cannot be transferred in the air but Canada's health authorities believe it "could be transmitted via aerosol." In addition, she said "one man infected his wife 82 days after he recovered from it, and she died." Orient said "we don't even know if it is contagious before the person becomes sicks."

"I don't think that hospitals are prepared," she added.

She cited "limited isolation facilities" and physicians who are "not aware about what to look for." Doctors, she said, "are not being told you need to do a careful travel history or a contact history of people coming in" who have flu-like symptoms.

Orient also said that the "CDC talks to different stories." She said their message to the population is essentially, "it's not very contagious, don't worry." But when they transport a patient with Ebola, "they are wearing a spacesuit," she said.

The whole article is worth the read:

EBOLA OUTBREAK.....connecting some dots

We are witnessing the worst Ebola outbreak in history. Most people have seen The Stand or Outbreak and we've heard of the disease but it has always been that nasty little bug that they have to deal with "over there." For the first time in history....as of tomorrow we will have the first two confirmed cases on U.S. soil and we brought them here. So lets first get a few basics out of the way

WHAT IS THE INCUBATION PERIOD AND HOW DO YOU CATCH IT
The "talking heads" on TV and in the mainstream media will tell you there is nothing to worry about. It would fizzle out here because of our hygiene. It's difficult to catch except by bodily fluids. It can't be spread by walking in a room with someone. etc. etc. etc. Oh and it's also said that you can't catch it unless you are with the person while they are symptomatic...vomiting, diarrhea. Well guess what? We are seeing all of that to be FALSE. Of course you can check the links to WHO and CDC and they will give you this run down but if you want to know the truth all you need to do is look at the eyewitness accounts of what is actually happening.

Incubation is between 2-22 days. That means the person can carry it that long before manifesting any symptoms. It is also widely rumored that the person affected bleeds out from every orifice, but that is not true in all cases. As I said they would have you believe that for those 2-22 days of incubation the infected can walk around and everyone is safe....WRONG.

http://ebola.emedtv....ion-period.html

Is a Person Contagious During the Ebola Incubation Period?
Even if a person exhibits no signs or symptoms of Ebola, he or she can still spread the virus during the Ebola incubation period. Once Ebola virus symptoms begin, the person can remain contagious for about three more weeks.

THIS WOULD MEAN THAT ANYONE THAT HAD CONTACT DURING INCUBATION PERIOD...NOT JUST AFTER SYMPTOMS START COULD BE INFECTED

Now with that in mind......lets start tracking. I'm going to make this as simple as possible with links and only snippets from articles.

PATRICK SAWYER
This gentleman is a Liberian/American and Finance Ministry Consultant in Liberia. His family lives in Minnesota with one of the highest concentrations of Liberians outside of the country itself. Basically it is alleged that he had been taking care of his sister who had Ebola. He went through two flights and died after departing the second. (http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/ebola-doctors-told-prepare-global-3933249#ixzz38uwjfDw0)

You have to wonder with all of that air that is re-circulated and a man as ill as he was on the plan....what about all the others that were on the plane? Did anyone touch a seat he had touched after he may have wiped his brow from sweat pouring from his head? What about the attendant that may have walked by and served or disposed of any of his garbage or napkins? All of these people could be ticking Ebola bombs....where are they and how many people have they come into contact with? Oh but it gets crazy once he gets to the hospital..

Once at the hospital the staff reported Mr. Sawyer as behaving very strangely with rage and "indiscipline". He denied having any contact with anyone infected although he had been caring for his sister who died from Ebola. The medical staff still wanted to test him despite his wishes and did so.
"FrontPageAfrica has now learned that upon being told he had Ebola, Mr. Sawyer went into a rage, denying and objecting to the opinion of the medical experts. “He was so adamant and difficult that he took the tubes from his body and took off his pants and urinated on the health workers, forcing them to flee." http://frontpageafricaonline.com/index.php/news/2506-sawyer-s-final-hours-in-lagos-indiscipline-rage-strange

MINNESOTA
So what's so special about Minnesota? I'm sure it is a beautiful place to see. I love to travel, but you couldn't pay me to go anywhere near there for a while. Being the home to the largest community of Liberians in the U.S., you can imagine the fear that they are facing knowing that their loved ones are in a hot zone. There have been mission trips cancelled and the most disturbing of all is that many of these people have been sending money and tickets to try to fly their families out....to here....Minnesota. Take a second and glance over this article posted by the Star Tribune. It went so far as to say that Emergency Personnel and First Responders in the area would be wearing precautionary garb when dealing with cases of illness because of the fact that they just don't know what they could be potentially facing. http://www.startribune.com/lifestyle/health/269766891.html

THE TWO AMERICAN MISSIONARIES
God Bless our Military and God Bless our Missionaries.....both who put their lives in harms way and daily sacrifice for God and Country.
Dr. Kent Brantley and his assistant Nancy Writebol were both working and treating Ebola patients in Monrovia and both have contracted the disease. Dr. Brantley has been noted for being meticulously careful and took double precautions which included: full body cover, multiple layer gloves, goggles and face protection. How is it that one so careful could get this monster through double protection?

What's more troubling is that Dr. Brantley's family were with him up until about 2 days before he became symptomatic. They flew home for a family function not knowing that he was indeed ill. They are on "fever watch". Remember what I posted in the beginning about the incubation time and being contagious above? Kind of makes you go hmmmmm..... God willing this woman and her babies don't get sick. I can't imagine the torment that she is going through.

After much criticism from the general public and some not-so-general like Donald Trump, Dr. Brantley was brought back on Saturday making him the first American with Ebola on American soil. The night before his departure he was listed as being in "grave" condition but I guess that 20 hr plane ride did some good because he walked right out of the back of that ambulance in his protective suit and into the building. Mrs. Writebol will arrive tomorrow and they will then be cared for at Emory University Hospital.

Now want to hear something else that will make you shake your head? What would you expect they would do with all of the waste from these patients? This would include the vomit and feces?? Well they are gonna just flush it! Yep....right into the public sewer system. "They" say there is no chance of problems arising from this. I'm still shaking my head on this one. Why not burn it to be sure? http://www.webmd.com/news/20140801/american-ebola-patients-returning-us?page=2

MEDICAL STAFF THAT CARED FOR MR. SAWYER
As of now there are 4 being tested with the Dr. who helped treat him coming back positive. I am not 100% certain but I believe that the number has gone up to eight.

AFRICAN ENVOY TO VISIT THE WHITE HOUSE
These are people from the INFECTED area and the Big O says it's on.  Invites have gone out to folks in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leon. What is concerning is that some of the diplomats who are supposed to be coming allegedly came into contact with Mr. Sawyer!
"Following a patient's death, contact tracing is conducted by health practitioners to track all who interacted with the victim to be placed in isolation and monitored for the required 21-day incubation period of the virus.

Following the death of a Liberian, Patrick Sawyer in Nigeria who tested positive of the virus Nigerian officials reported via the media a list of more than 40 persons, including its ambassador to Liberia as those who made contact with Sawyer prior to his death but the envoy has denied any contact with the late Sawyer.

Local and international media reported that Ambassador Chigozie Obi-Nnadozie and 58 others may have had contact with the late Patrick Sawyer on board the Asky flight to Nigeria but the envoy has denied the reports."

http://allafrica.com/stories/201408011563.html

I understand that this is ALOT of info and I've tried to break it down and not bombard with a bunch on statistics and unnecessary details. I'm just trying to link things up and give you an idea of how all of this is unfolding and how we as Americans can possibly be affected by this. Just think of all of these people who are in contact with others and it forms a spider web so-to-speak. All of the talking heads seem to repeat the same script that just doesn't seem to coincide with what is actually happening.

Before I close this post I'd like to post a copy of an account that just took place over there. This will give you an idea of what chaos and hell really is.

http://frontpageafri...pital-shut-down

Tokpa Tarnue, a local journalist on the scene told FrontPageAfrica Wednesday that the majority of the suspected patients were in a holding room at the Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital while awaiting their departure for a treatment and isolation center in Foya when they abruptly left their room and moved into other wards that later resulted to all health workers escaping the hospital compound in deep fear.

According to the journalist, the suspected patients managed to leave the hospital premises and ran into various homes and streets, a situation that caused severe panic among citizens and residents of Voinjama who were likewise escaping from the patients fearing not to contract the deadly Ebola virus. He told FrontPageAfrica that for several hours Voinjama was like a ghost town as many residents escaped the city while others locked themselves in their homes.

Said the local journalist: “Everybody left. They had suspected Ebola patients in a holding room that is not well equipped. They are normally kept there before they are taken to Foya. In the process of doing that, those suspected patients left their wards and stating entering the children's ward and other places while they were vomiting and releasing feces at the same time. Based on that the entire hospital staff all left including the doctors and nurses. Up to now they have not gone back to work.”

Prayers for our Country, their Countries and all those affected. More to come......

The Land of the Shadows (The End of All Things #2)...MUST READ SERIES!

I have waited ever-so-patiently for "The Land of the Shadow" to be released. I was so excited and grateful to receive a ARC and let me say that it was well worth the wait!

Let me say that when I started the book on Saturday, the story was only enhanced by the fact that there is an actual unprecedented outbreak of Ebola and the first case ever of Ebola being treated on U.S. soil was in the process of taking place. This gave the read a chilling effect. When I hit page 97 and read the following quote I found myself craving a drink.

"...advanced, democratic nations would fall harder and faster to a pandemic because the government would be reluctant to impose and then enforce the kind of quarantine necessary to stop the spread of the illness."

How do you pick up the pieces, move on and create a life when all hell has broken loose and there's not much left to work with? Lissa Bryan covered issues that would not normally come to mind in this 2nd installment of the series. She put a face and name on "social issues" that could be a possibility in a new world where hunger and struggle would be the new way of life. This was not your run-of-the-mill SHTF book....it was so much more. It was a story of love, hope and the never dying American dream in a world that no longer resembles America.

Many times the sequel to a really good book can be "so-so".....but this series has now moved from really good to great. I devoured it in one night and I can't wait for the final book. Thanks for the opportunity to loose myself in another world once again

Smashwords....A great resource for books and new authors

Everyone knows or recognize the big authors whose books are on the front shelves in the bookstores. Let me tell you that if you only limit yourself to those that you see there in the bookstores you are selling yourself extremely short. I have found some of the best reads from authors that were not on those shelves or even in the store!

There are many, many writers out there who are so very talented that are battling to self-publish and self-promote. There is so much talent out there just waiting to be discovered that it is unbelievable. Many of these writers I have found were because their books were offered for FREE through Amazon, B&N or Smashwords.

Everyone knows about Amazon and B&N, but many people don't know about Smashwords. This site is another avenue for writers to publish their work and get it out to the public. There are so many works available here and many of them are for free. I will outline below how it works if you are searching for new books.

Go to:
https://www.smashwords.com/

You will see "Join for Free" in the blue bar at the top. Join and get yourself set up.

There are so many ways to filter.....Across the top you can filter by length and price. One the left hand side you can filter by genre. Filter first by genre then you can filter by price or length. You can also click on "Adult Content" on the blue bar on the right to filter.

When you find a book that you want you just click the "Buy" or "Add to Library". From this point you just plug your device into your computer and sideload your book.

VERY IMPORTANT.....Please make sure that you go back and rate any books that you read....especially Indie authors. They rely on these ratings to validate their work and get more readers.

Cyberstorm by Matthew Mather.......FABULOUS READ!!!

This book was amazing! I wasn't real sure about it when I first looked at it. So many times "survivalist fiction" can end up being really cheesy, but Matthew Mather knocked this one out of the park! Most of the "survival" reads is centered around a nuclear explosion, economy breakdown or natural disaster but Mather has added another disaster that was hidden in plain sight.

EVERYTHING in our society is linked to the internet and information. What happens when our Cyberspace, that we take for granted, is attacked or goes down? Reading this book was like watching a domino maze fall. Scenarios that one would not even consider is brought to mind when reading Cyberstorm.

I read until I couldn't hold my eyes open. If you grab this one don't expect to put it down until you are done.

$2.99 at Amazon and it will be the best few dollars you've spent on a book.
http://www.amazon.com/CyberStorm-Matthew-Mather-ebook/dp/B00BT4QRHG/ref=sr_1_1_ha?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1405529160&sr=1-1&keywords=cyberstorm

Love Motley Crue?? Grab a copy of TommyLand by Tommy Lee

Tommyland

Nothing takes me back to my youth quicker than some good ole big hair 80's heavy metal. I have to say that next to GNR, Motley Crue was and is my favorite. I crossed picket lines to go to a concert when I was in high school, and was front and center to see Tommy Lee's bare butt as he mooned the crowd. I heard this antic got them banned from our state but they were back when I hit college. Of course, I secretly snagged a ticket (Mama absolutely forbade me to go) and I was front and center again. When I found Tommy's book I jumped on it.

I think of myself as pretty open minded and not-so-easily offended or embarrassed but GOOD GRIEF!!! I never thought I'd be reading a book co-authored by a man's penis. SERIOUSLY?????

With that said and out of the way I have to say that I really enjoyed the book. I was expecting the raw stuff, but was caught by surprise in the way that he very subtly exposed his soft side....there between the lines. He was so open with his addiction and struggle that you could feel it in every word printed. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the lifestyle of this crazy Crue!

Kate Gosselin and How She Fooled The World.....WOW what a read

When Jon & Kate Plus 8 came out we kind of backed into it by accident. My daughter loved watching the show because she's around the same age as the younger kids. Of course, I ended up watching and I admit I got a little sucked in at first. Kate came across as being very much in control and organized. I found myself trying to figure out what I was doing wrong because I had three kids 6 years apart and here she had this whole brood and things were running on schedule. Not only was their ship floating smoothly she looked good while steering. I will admit I loved her look and even got that "chicken butt" haircut....good grief! Before long it became obvious to me that Kate really wasn't a capable supermom with these superpowers. She certainly was not very nice to her husband. I can't IMAGINE talking and treating my husband that way.

THIS book confirmed EVERYTHING that I started suspecting and I was appalled at some of the things I read. There was a lot of information....sometimes repetitive...but it was clear the author was trying to make sure every base was covered since so many people essentially been silenced with signed forms and threats of legal action. Although it is obvious that Robert Hoffman became friends with Jon, in no way did he cut Jon slack. He was quick to point out his faults as well. I finished this book a couple of days ago and I STILL have trouble wrapping my mind around how someone could stoop so low and be so evil.

It is said in the synopsis of the book that you will never look at reality TV the same after reading this book. I totally agree

Book Synopsis

Kate Gosselin is a former reality television star and mother of eight beautiful children.

She's also a Child Abuser; Animal Abuser; Racist; Functioning Alcoholic; Liar; Manipulator and Multi-Millionaire Grifter.

Those are things that she doesn't want you to know. So much so that she hired the top entertainment law firm in the country to try to stop the publication of this book

Bunkers by Nicholas Antinozzi

Bunkers

Once again Antinozzi has given me something to stay awake for. I read this book in two nights...only stopping when I fell asleep face down on my Nook. I am a huge fan of this author and "Desperate Times" is still one of my favorite books. After reading "Bunkers" it has moved right up to the same rank. I'm an avid reader of what I call "survivalist" fiction and I have yet to find an author who can write a book that mimics what is going on in our world today.....then take it to the edge like he does. I have yet to find an author who can so meticulously develop a character.....especially the obnoxious type...the way he does.

Bunkers is a "world going to hell" type read, but it is different because it is centered around the idea of a having a bug-out location. It touches on issues that one would need to think about if living in a neighborhood. How well do you really know your neighbors? This book will give you a lot to think about.....I HIGHLY recommend and can NOT wait for his next book.

As of today the book is listed for FREE on Amazon and B&N so grab it now! Links will follow at the bottom of page.

Book Synopsis

When tragedy strikes and as the world begins to crumble around him, Mark SleepingBear decides that it’s high time to renovate his grandfather’s Cold War era fallout shelter. As conditions deteriorate, Mark struggles with the decision to share his bunker, should the need arise, with his neighbors. For years, Mark has isolated himself from these people. After he shares his secret, his neighbors decide to build their own bunker, a massive shelter, constructed with comfort as the number one priority. Soon, Mark learns that the illusion he has created about his neighbors, is just that. They are far from being the perfect couples he has always envisioned them to be. Mark begins to regret his decision to share the secret. Meanwhile, the country is thrown into an uproar when President Crabtree announces that he has penned a Presidential Order, one that combines the United States with Canada and Mexico, in what Crabtree dubs as the North American Union. Chaos ensues, as the Pentagon staunchly refuses to go along with the plan. Sadly, Mark’s worst fears are soon realized

No More Dancing With Unicorns

I quit on politics and in some ways I feel like I quit on my country. This may sound like a pretty dramatic and ignorant statement coming from a "Nobody-Stay-at-Home-Mom." I mean I'm not Military...no one important or even someone who anyone listens too on even a small to medium scale. Let me explain...

I am PASSIONATE about my country, our freedom, our military and all of the sacrifices made by those in order for my family to live in peace. For as long as I remember I have been a "news freak" and was obsessed with current events. My Daddy used to always demand silence when it was time for the news. He always told us "You better pay attention to what's going on around you." Anyone who knows me knows that I take my Daddy's directions and words pretty serious, so I have always made it a point to pay attention and be as knowledgeable as possible about current events.

After Obama was re-elected to a second term I felt like it no longer mattered. My voice didn't matter and my vote didn't matter. America was changing and there was nothing I could do about it. No one seemed to care. So I quit....I quit watching the news. I quit reading the newspaper or browsing the web. I no longer shared things that I found on social media or even talked about them. What was the point? I quit serving my country in the only way I could and that was by using my head and exercising my rights.

A friend of mine on Facebook made a very simple post on his page:

Mohamed Elibiary / U.S.A. security advisor. ???? How much do you know about this man?

After googling the name and reading just HALF of an article, I decided it's time to pull my head out of the sand and quit daydreaming with the unicorns and get back to reality. Will anything I post or blog about make a difference? Probably not. I don't have an audience of followers and I don't have a lot of letters behind my name, BUT if I post one thing....just ONE thing that might make someone THINK, RESEARCH and START A CONVERSATION about just what the heck is going on in this country then my job is done.

Today my friend reminded me how important all of our voices are. Tonight I start down that road again.....trying to start a conversation....trying to be heard.
